An Internet Webquest for K-2

Introduction

This Webquest has been designed for students to navigate and participate on an individual basis. Do you like colors? What is your favorite color? Have you ever planted a flower or a plant? Now is your chance to take part in creating a picture book "class garden".

Task

Imagine that you are a gardener. You are trying to help create the most colorful garden anyone has ever seen. You will do some research to find the best and brightest flowers that are available. Some web sites about flowers will be provided for you as a guide. Each of you will pick a different flower for the class garden and will be responsible for drawing a picture of your flower and explaining to the class why you chose that flower.

Process

Look at web sites about flowers.

Pick the flower that you like the best to learn more about.

Research chosen flower using sites provided.

Write down what you learn about your flower.

Draw a picture of the flower you have chosen.

Present picture and explain your flower and why you chose it.

Hand drawing in to teacher (teacher then creates class book).

Conclusion

Now do you feel like a real gardener? After the class garden book is completed, you will have the opportunity to take it home and share it with your family. Maybe next summer when your mom starts to plant a garden she will know who to come to for help.
